Oil thickness measuring device

With the oil thickness measuring device the changeover between air, non-conducting liquids and water can be measured and  therefore the thickness of the corresponding layer can be determined. The probe displays the moment of immersion in air/liquid media and shows the difference between water and non conducting liquids (petrol, oil, solvents and so on..).

Advantages:

• floating oil films as well as deeper non-conducting layers in between a conducting liquid (f.e. many solvants) can be measured
• the measuring principle (combination of infrared and conductivity measurement probe) and the special construction of the probe (filed for patent) have many advantages: 
  • an identical zero-offset off all sensors avoid wrong measurements
  • probe diameter only 16 mm (suitable for narrow bore holes)
  • very thin layers (a few mm thickness) can be measured. Oil films < 1mm cannot be detected
• a cable wheel protects the cable and increases the accuracy of the reading
• measurement length up to 500 m
• probe is easily to clean
• automatic power-off-function for the probe while out of usage
• low battery consumption

Working method:

After an automatical selftest the probe is led down via the cable duct included. When immersing into a non-conducting liquid, a light and a summer are switched on, when immersing into water, light and sound are periodically interrupted. All depths with changes from air or between the various liquids can be read out from the measuring cable. So e.g. from the difference of the first two meas. values the thickness of a swimming oil layer is resulted, and also the thickness of the layer of a liquid, sunken down due to its higher specifical weight, can be evaluated in one step by leading down the probe up to the ground.
